Founded in 1995 by Robert L. O'Brien Jr., OBI Laser Products is backed with over 20 years of industrial experience. Mr. O'Brien has been a technical consultant since 1983 providing services to the then growing industrial PC market. He has developed hundreds of industrial automation and control systems since that time.

OBI Laser Products provides Custom Laser Production, Custom CNC Software and General Technical Consulting for Industrial Automation or laser related research.

OBI owns and operates a 100 watt, CNC Laser Machining Center which was designed and built by Mr. O'Brien. The machine has a working envelope of 48" x 48" x 1.5". Sheets up to 144" have been indexed through the table. The laser is capable of making clean cuts in hardwood and most plastics upto 3/8" thick. Acrylic can be as much as 1" thick.

In 2002, OBI added a CNC router to handle heavier materials. It has a working envelope of 45" x 65" x 6". This machine has a Porter-Cable 7539 router (3.25 HP, 10,000 to 21,000 RPM). It has demonstrated cutting the scrollhead for the dulcimers made by Folkcraft Intruments.
